About The Artists

Willow Arts is is run by Chris Oldham and has been in existence since 2001.

Chris began his artistic career as an Advertising Photographer, taking photos of other peoples artistic creations in Sculpture, Dance, Theatre and Performance.

Early photo training began at a Coal Mine Museum Chatterly Whitfield, photographing the history of the british minning history as it became a museum relic.

While studying photography I discovere Land Artists like; Andy Goldsworthy, David Nash, Chris Durry and willow artists Patrick Dougherty and Serena Dela Hay. The work began to focus more onto landscape spaces and early constructions from willow and birch to discover the wonder of making a space vibrate with the enegy that comes from the placing of a land art piece into a natural space.

The ability to use the art to engage other people and discuss enviromental issues was rewarding and good fun. Getting communities of people together to build a big space they could play and have fun in was good and the children have the best time playing in and around the sculptures.

The sculpture practice now also Employs the services of my wife.

We both have current CRB Certificates and Public Liability Insurance to 5Million
