Hollies Community Sensory Garden. Chadsmoor, Cannock, Staffs.

Hollies Garden Before

The sensory Garden project at Chadsmoor in Cannock Staffordshire was commissioned by Cannock Chase District Council.

The purpose of the project was to improve accessibly to the Garden for Hollie and her family. Hollie has Cerebral Palsy and needs a wheel chair for mobility she has impaired sensory awareness and requires special care, provided by her family and the special school she attends.

My mission was to create a design for an outdoor disabled children's sensory garden area, that gave heightened stimulus to all of the five senses, and answered all the needs of the gardens users. To do this I ran a series of creative projects over twelve months that added up to something much greater than the sum of its parts.

The Chadsmoor local community, High schools, Sure Start mums, Young adults from 5c's training, and many members from the local business community, joined in the project and together we built a beautiful garden for disabled children to play in and for their carers relaxing area to enjoy qualities of the plants and outdoor green spaces.
